Cindy Sherman, self portrait

Cindy Sherman has collaborated with MAC to create her own limited edition costume make-up line (launch date September 29th). Of course, that’s not how it’s being billed; this stuff is limited edition affordable art in the form of bronzer and lipstick. Look out 20×200, you’ve got some competition! I’m guessing customers don’t actually get an edition number, not that this will make any difference to the sale. Speaking of which, this may be a stupid question, but is anyone going to buy this?

DB Cooper: FBI has new suspect 40 years after fugitive parachuted from hijacked plane | Mail Online

Is the mystery of DB Cooper about to be solved? FBI reveals it has new suspect 40 years after America’s most elusive fugitive parachuted from a hijacked plane

The FBI today revealed that it believes it has America's most elusive fugitive finally in its sights 40 years after famed hijacker DB Cooper disappeared when he jumped out of a plane over Washington.

Investigators said that they are testing the fingerprints of a new suspect after what they said is the 'most promising' lead to date in its bid to crack America's only unsolved hijacking.

A mystery hijacker calling himself Dan Cooper, also known as DB Cooper, boarded a Northwest flight in Portland for a flight to Seattle on the night of November 24 1971, and commandeered the plane, claiming he had dynamite.

In Seattle, he demanded and got $200,000 and four parachutes and demanded to be flown to Mexico.

Somewhere over southwestern Washington, he jumped out the plane's tail exit with two of the chutes, and was never seen or heard from again.

The FBI today announced that it has a new suspect in the case who they are hoping to link to a tie Cooper left on the plane and cigarette butts in an ashtray using DNA testing and fingerprints.

There have been more than 1,000 suspects over the past four decades, but the FBI have described the new lead as 'looking like our most promising one to date'.

'We do actually have a new suspect we're looking at,' said FBI spokesman Ayn Dietrich as she revealed the twist in the investigation.

'It comes from a credible lead who came to our attention recently via a law enforcement colleague,' she said.

'The credible lead is somebody whose possible connection to the hijacker is strong,' she told the Daily Telegraph. 'And the suspect is not a name that's come up before.'

Republicans and their lack of charity

I got into a friendly, but spirited argument with a old dear middle-aged friend, who happens to be a republican. He was raving about our national debt and all of the taxes he pays. He went on and on about welfare, and social security and Obama care on and on. He informed me of how he always worked for his money and if people need help they should help them selves. Its not the government function to help the helpless. On and on this Christian solder went, railing against the homeless and the addicted and the poor. I took this for a few minutes ok,
I let him speak before chopping off his head. “Christian my ass,” that’s what is wrong with this country, all of you folks pretending to be Christian (like the tea party). Real Christians, Muslims or Jews, know that its about giving, Loving...
I recited a bible verse (badly) that my father always used to always quote. I couldn’t remember it all so I came home and looked it up. Tomorrow I will print it out for him, so that next time his sanctimonious ass spouts off about his hard work ethic and Christian virtues.......he can remember what Christ said. Hell the whole Republican Party needs to spoke praying for a minute and read the bible again, this time with not only their eyes but with their hearts open.
Or maybe they should read the Koran because Islam says:
Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever removes one of the hardships of a believing soul, Allah will remove from him one of the distresses on the Hereafter. Whoever solves someone else's problem, Allah will make things easy for him in this world and the Hereafter… Allah is ever assisting His servant as long as that servant is helping his brother.” [Sahîh Muslim (4867)]
“In Judaism, giving to the poor is not viewed as a generous, magnanimous act; it is simply an act of justice and righteousness, the performance of a duty, giving the poor their due”. http://www.jewfaq.org/tzedakah.htm
Read fool, it doesn’t matter which religion you follow because they are all saying the same thing………….

This country is going to hell in a basket and its not Obama Doing. He was just a person who had been set up to take the fall, for all of this countries mess. He is simply a new version of a spirit animal…one that this country needed for a short time, to take its problems unto himself..............Kind of like Christ did.........
Anyway ill print it out for my friend, Jesus Said:
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

The remnants of an entire black community pushed out by the creation of Central Park in the 1850s are being given new life thanks to a team of anthropologists and historians who have been busy digging up the items for the past eight weeks.

Settled in the 1820s, Seneca Village was a mostly black community of 260 residents, comprised of working- and middle-class property owners, the New York Times explains. It stretched from 82nd to 89th streets, between what were then Seventh and Eighth avenues.

The community has been a subject of fascination and scholarly study for the Institute for the Exploration of Seneca Village History, a consortium of three professors from City College, Barnard College and New York University. After winning permission from the city eight weeks ago to excavate in an area of the park near 85th Street and Central Park West, the group has steadily been uncovering a wealth of material not discovered in previous borings, the New York Times reports.

This dig, which will end on Friday, has already turned up 250 bags of items. Anthropology college students interning with the consortium told the Times of some more moving, powerful finds -- things like a leather and fabric shoe, clay pipes, bones from animals that had been butchered.

The new sci-fi thriller Attack the Block invades theaters in select cities today.

Written and directed by Joe Cornish, Attack the Block follows a gang of tough inner-city kids who attempt to defend their neighborhood against an invasion of savage creatures, turning a south London apartment complex into an extraterrestrial war zone.

The cast, primarily made up of young black unknown actors, were put through an intense and grueling auditioning process. During a recent interview, the film's director Joe Cornish revealed that he auditioned numerous kids to portray the tough gang of friends who protect their neighborhood from aliens.

"We saw about 1,500 kids, and we really put them through their paces. We really tested them to make sure they were committed and had support at home and they had the stamina to last the shoot," he said. "There was a lot of shooting at night, with hard work and stunts, we had to be sure they could stick with it. We found some amazing talent."

Thus far the film has won numerous awards including the audience award for best narrative feature at the 2011 Los Angeles Film Festival as well as the midnight feature award at this years South by Southwest Festival in Texas. This April, Attack the Block gained a U.S. distribution deal with Screen Gems. In recent months the films has been screened in numerous locations across the country and has created substantial online buzz.

The Examiner compares Attack the Block to cult classics like Neill Blomkamp's District 9 and Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs. In a Wall Street Journal review, the film is described as an adventure that combines Aliens, The Goonies and Boyz n the Hood.

African-American actors are rarely featured in science fiction films. The list of notable black film stars who have found success in the sci-fi genre remains small, including Will Smith with Independence Day and Men in Black, Laurence Fishburne in The Matrix, Wesley Snipes in Demolition Man, Halle Berry in the X-Men films, and Billy Dee Williams in the original Star Wars trilogy. However, it is our neighbors across the pond that are bringing us this summer's sci-fi film featuring a black ensemble of actors.

"We always dreamed it would go international. After all, it is very inspired by American directors I admire. We always hoped American audiences would respond to it, but it's very British, a very authored piece, and not designed to be super-commercial. So I'm very excited and happy that audiences have responded so far. Fingers crossed," said Cornish.

Attack the Block can be seen in select cities today and will have a wide release in August.
