New York The major career retrospective on Tim Burton at MoMA

Yesterday, MoMa launched a large retrospective exhibition on Tim Burton, the celebrated director, producer, writer, and conceptual artist renowned for his production of live-action and animated films along with his work as a fiction writer, photographer and illustrator.

The show travels through time, chronologically from his early childhood drawings until his latest creations. The exhibition is also featuring artwork generated during the conception and production of Burton’s films as well as a number of unrealized projects and never-before seen pieces. The exhibition includes a glimpse of Burton’s initial steps into film production, revealing films during his early non-professional period.

His versatility and multi-faceted artistic capability are his most remarkable characteristics, and these traits evidently permeate the atmosphere of the exhibition presented through the vast array of his different mediums, including: drawings, storyboard, digital and moving image formats, puppets and maquettes, props, costumes, sketchbooks, and cartoons.

The launch of the new work Alice in Wonderland will be on March, 10th 2010.
