JERSEY CITY -- Five people were shot and wounded in Jersey City early this morning, including a 16-year-old girl and a woman in her 50s, a report in the New York Times said.

According to the report, the shooting, which began at about 12:30 a.m., occurred near the corner of Bergen and Claremont Avenues. All of the victims were in stable condition at the Jersey City Medical Center, Lt. Edgar Martinez, a police spokesman, told the New York Times. Martinez said in the report it did not appear that the victims were related to one another.

The victims included two men in their 30s who were shot in the chest, a man in his 20s who was shot in the arm, a 16-year-old girl who was shot in the leg and a 50-year-old woman who was also shot in the leg, the report said. Details about the incident were not immediately available, and police are still searching for suspects.

The shooting comes hours after the funeral for Detective Marc DiNardo, who died Tuesday after helping lead the charge when a team of officers had a shootout with two armed robbery suspects on July 16.
