Beulah says
Who the hell is Beulah?
I don’t use this symbol as a way of tearing down of
My own race
I use it as an explanation of how a man who raised his kids alone can some times feel
I mean when my wife passed away, this macho cop had to become mommy and daddy
So I created a caricature, a mammy to laugh at my plight
And to help with my transition into the new dual role of parent hood
the transition of braiding hair, and getting kids ready for school
you guys know the drill
And you have to take your hats off to woman who have been raising kids alone for ever
It’s funny
All of my brothers and I had two raised their kids mostly alone
My oldest brother who recently died
Was my hero
He had a child in his 50’s and raised him alone until his death
My youngest brother has a lovely lovely daughter
He too raised his daughter alone
Then their was me with my three and more
My father once looked around the table at a holiday
And asked where all of the women are
But he didn’t mean it in a nasty way
After all Dad
You raised us this way, to take care of our children
And all that
So guys when you see Beulah
Don’t take it as a slight against black woman
She is my alter ego, the one that cooks and cleans
And take care of all of Gods Chillen
Anyway recently
I have started really listening to my republican friends
And what I have found is astounding to me
They really like Palin
Consider Obama to be less than American
And in some ways simply inferior
They believe the nonsense that the Republican Party puts out
They believe that their party actually chose good leaders
And many of them believe that democrats are actually ill read and informed
Let me break this down for them quickly
From Ronald Reagan to Sarah Palin
The Republican Party which is after all about big business
Tends to put these not so bright figure heads in office
Reagan was not a heavy thinker
And he had not too much sympathy for people
That’s where I don’t get the religious connection
With the Republican Party
For a people who love god so much
They sure don’t like to give any thing to any one
They believe in the old school welfare state
What I found amazingly was people
Who were so concerned about any one who they think?
Doesn’t work or is lazy
Concerned that these people
Who in effect or America’s poor are lazy
Not true
And that they are stopping these other Americans from getting any
Of the fruits of their labor
A bunch of welfare queens getting over
They like figure heads and are concerned about
Real people getting in office
I don’t want real people in office
I want the best and brightest in office
I don’t want me running things I am real
I want more
They like a Palin who they think for some reason is real
Or a bush who they think is home grown
When in fact he is a blue blood
It’s amazing the lack of clarity
Republicans have
The disconnect they the exhibit
And the hateful way in which they seek to deprive
The poor and infirmed of any thing
They create a Joe the plumber
And then throw this idiot in our faces
What about Miguel the door man
Or Leroy the gas station attendant
We don’t need stand in for real people
But republicans do
McCain real, please
This man is rich and crazy
She be seeking therapy
Instead of trying to run a country
Palin she calls and brings out all of the worst in this country
And if republicans put this silly woman up front
They will lose again
There is a new world order
Out there
And this countries inherent hatred of intellect
Is astounding
Granted on the other side you have
Unrealistic liberals
Fighting silly wars that can’t be won
The anti war folks
Are simply out of touch
There is nothing wrong with a war fought for the right reasons
Nothing wrong with defending America
We just have to stop thinking that America is the world
Anyway I just left a long conversation with a republican friend
That left me breathless
Ok so Beulah got to get ready for work
Got to wash some clothes first
Find some food for my huddled masses
Finish up two sculptures that have to be delivered tomorrow
Help a few college students later with their homework
And more
Beulah is tired
