New Museum's ongoing "Museum as a Hub" project, curated by Eungie Joo, Keith Haring Director and Curator of Educations and Public Programs, will present two exhibitions from February to July 2011. Each show is produced in partnership with five organizations: art space pool, Seoul; El MuseoExperimental El Eco, Mexico City; Museo Rufino Tamayo Arte Contemporaneo, Mexico City; Townhouse Gallery of Contemporary Art, Cairo; and the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
The common thread between shows is the word "accord", the concept of accord standing as an initial point of agreement which generates different kinds of conversations, actions and ideas.
Guest curated by Sarah Rifky, "Accords: Part I, Museum as Hub: An accord is first and foremost only a proposition” runs from February 9 to May 1, 2011 (with works by Carey Young, Dora Garcia, Wael Shawky and Yael Bartana)
"The Accord Part II, Museum as Hub: The Incongruous Image—Marcel Broodthaers and Liliana Porter” will follow from May 11 to July 3, 2011. Part II is curated by Annie Fletcher and Tobias Ostrander.
