Jesse Valadez: A legend in lowriding. A legend in the game.

I just found out that a legend in lowriding, Jesse Valadez, has passed. My prayers go out to his family and friends and he’ll never be forgotten and forever remain an icon – and essential part of lowriding history. RIP Jesse. On the flipside I will say that it was a great honor to say that I had a chance to meet Jesse Valadez years back and after spending some time with him it became clearly evident why he was nominated for Lowrider Magazine’s Hall of Fame. I remember having to write an editorial piece on his crowning achievements and after talking to him for just a short bit I already knew that it was going to be an easy job. His history and contributions to the culture were plenty and his work became legendary in its own right. His Impala, “Gypsy Rose” became an icon of lowriding, and to date it’s considered to be one of the most recognized lowriders in the game.

Jesse’s work has become internationally known, and his crowning achievements have pushed lowriding into a culture far beyond what anyone would have expected. And while it took decades to recognize Van Gogh’s talents, it only took a few years for Jesse Valdez to be recognized for his.
