Greta Garbo's Malibu Property "La Esperanza" On The Market For $12.6 Million











Via LA Times: Greta Garbo's Malibu beach retreat is similar in size, specs, and even market price to the Marion Davies mansion we recently wrote about. Both are around 5,000-6,000 square feet, have five bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms, and are in the mid-$12 million price range. But Garbo's "La Esperanza" in Malibu has Davies' Beverly Hills mansion beat when it comes to beachfront views (200 feet of ocean!) and its nearby "Cape-Cod inspired beach cottage."

The contemporaries both successfully transitioned from silent film stars to actress in "talkies" during the 1920s and 1930s. While Davies lived a gregarious life, entertaining with her billionaire boyfriend William Randolph Hearst at their many estates, Garbo chose to live her life in seclusion and commissioned the Malibu property to be her own private retreat.
