Los Insiders - RE-EVOLUTION

Winners of the 2009 DC Comics' Zuda Comics Invitational –a web division of DC– Gus Higuera and Juan Felipe Salcedo, co-creators of Re-Evolution, made history as the first Latinos to be published by the comic book brand. Higuera, a Los Angeles based web developer and writer, of Colombian and Guatemalan descent, and Salcedo, a mechanical engineer and artist from Bucaramanga, Colombia– partnered last year after discovering one another's work on facebook. The pair created Re-Evolution, a tale about a climatic series of events that forces humans to abandon their animals for centralized green zones, having the animals fend for themselves. The duo won a contract with Zuda, in which the website published and distributed their comic for a year. Today, Higuera and Salcedo are seeking to renew their deal with Zuda, with hope that the future will bring a contract with DC Comics and Warner Brothers to turn their fantasy into reality. – Lulaine Compere
