American Staffordshire, pit bull statistics revealed!
There has been much said on television and in print about the dangers of pit bulls. New laws have been tossed around our town and city halls, laws that would effectively ban pit bulls. Fortunately, there are still many responsible pit bull owners in our city, and many loyal, obedient, good natured pit bulls.

In temperament tests done by the AKC on various breeds of dogs, Staffordhires score higher than even the most famous of "family dogs", the Golden Retriever. The CDC, which tracks animal attacks and human deaths, stresses that in most cases of an attack the identity of dog breed is left up to eye witnesses. Therefore, it's difficult to positively identify the actual breed involved.
In one of the most well-known cases of a pit bull attack, the owner Dianne Whipple, was found guilty, not the dog. Bringing to light the need for responsible ownership. Unfortunately, the headlines read "pit bull" when the dog actually involved was a Pressa Canario. A breed from Spain that has very little relation to the American Staffordshire or any breed of pitbull.
