O'Reilly addressing the NAN Conference

Fox News host Bill O'Reilly addressed a largely African-American audience at Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network Conference on Wednesday afternoon, receiving warm applause after he was introduced by Sharpton. But his reception quickly soured when he began to talk about his perception of race in America, particularly after 9/11.

"We pretty much dropped that race stuff after 9/11," said The O'Reilly Factor host, soliciting a reaction of boos of the attendees.

WATCH BILL O'REILLY GET BOOED AFTER HIS COMMENTS ON RACE

  1. It takes courage for an opinionated O'Reilly to get in front of a hostile audience and share his opinion. To boo him is rude. Again a white man cannot talk about race because that makes him racist or he is not entitled to his opinion. If O'Reilly were black it would have been okay for him to share his opinion. Much like Bill Cosby who challenges the Black men to stay in school, get off drugs, be responsible for your children, stay out of jail, etc. etc. etc. Cosby is disparaged by Black audiences for his honest opinions on why the Black community is in the state that it is. (Now there are plenty of whites who are on drugs, are in jail, who do not finish school or have jobs but the disparity is there when comparing white versus black statistics.) Just my opinion.

  2. It does take courage or more probaly arrogance
the arrogance not to research before he spoke.
It took courage for sharpton to bring him there.
Perhaps they shouldnt have booed. He was a guest. Yes if bill were black he would have sounded even dumber, bill cosby has a opinion, based on his exp., and he does have a rigtht to vioce, it he is right about the effects of things in the innner city, wrong about the solutions. YOu are judging now you call bill opinions honest, is that your opinion
that is kind of like bill O, right, you assume that some one is right, based on your own perceptinos.............

  3. I don't think they booed O'Reilly...they booed his comment, which by the way I agreed with Bill on that.(and i'm a black man) I like the fact that O'Reilly attended the event and I like that Sharpton inviting him. Both men ought to be commended. The booing was rude and shouldn't have occurred. If we're ever going to get anywhere, we have to listen and engaged one another, not boo. It's childish and it accomplishes nothing.
