Where were you the night Obama was elected President?

hiding

I haven’t written a whole lot about the election because I am still simply stunned.

Election night

I couldn’t take it.

I thought I was having a heart attack.

I began going to CNN and every other site, Hong Kong, Vietnam, any where

To find what I was looking for.

News of an Obama win.

Of course I started doing this about 300 PM before the results were in.

Yes I know

I am a coward

I made my self sick, so I took the tranquilizer and went to bed at 1100 pm and I never go to bed before about 5:00 am.

I laid there thinking

Finally I blacked out for like 20 minutes

Up again

Ok I started a new sculpture so I began painting that.

Anyway thing

Anything thing

To get this election off my mind

Oh lord lord what could be worst

Ok

Now it’s like 2:00 and I creep to my computer.

Cut on the screen

And peep

Did he win?

The New York Times said he won.

He won

I don’t believe it

CNN said he won

I don’t believe it

Lair’s lair’s

Finally I got the strength to cut on the television

And there Obama was again

Giving his speech on CNN

And Jesus

That boy was preaching

Yes we can

When he mentioned the 106 year old lady

When I saw Oprah and Jessie

Crying

I lost it lost it

I started wailing

Singing

Praying

Yelling

Yes we can

Yes we can

I stayed up r the whole night

Until 900 that morning yelling

Yes we can

Man I still can’t comment on this

Ill do that tomorrow

I am more drained than I have been in years

But I am

So so happy

Newark is singing

Singing

Every one is so happy and hopeful

Let me tell you

I went to the store today

This evening

And picked up some bread

In the stores Brazilians were singing

Portuguese were singing

South Americans were singing

Black folks were walking

A little straighter

Walking just a little prouder

Yes we can

Yes we can

I heard some one yelling

Yelling Obama

I looked up I couldn’t find out where

The battle cry was coming from

Obama Obama

I kept looking around

To find the source

When I looked up

It was a guy on a ladder

On a pole

Way up in the air

He was an installer

For Verizon phones

And he was up on the poles

Singing

Singing out

Obama

That’s right he said

Obama

It was cry of defiance

It was a cry of pride

It was a cry

Of freedom

Yes we can

Yes we can
