Ed Schultz: Tea Party ‘Bullies… Will Use Violence To Get Their Way’ On Tuesday
» 37 commentsAs Election Day nears, the innumerable accusations of voter intimidation only seem to multiply, and while many dismiss accusations of aggression at the polls as right-wing propaganda, many liberals seem equally fearful of threats of violence. Take MSNBC’s Ed Schultz, for example, who is accusing a Texas Tea Party group of “sending out their goons to stand directly behind voters,” among other violations.
“Tea Party groups,” he told his audience on The Ed Show this Friday, “[are] sending out their goons to stand directly behind voters… trying to scare Democrats from going to the polls.” He specifically accused Glenn Beck and his “Tea Party nonsense” directly for the intimidating, calling the Tea Party “a party of bullies who will use violence to get their way.” Granted, the Rand Paul head-stomping incident was a godsend for progressives like Schultz, but still, for someone so adamantly opposed to fearmongering, those are some pretty scary accusations.
Schultz also spoke with Texas Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, who, while stopping short of calling all Tea Partiers violent bullies, did encourage everyone to vote– even Tea Partiers!– and expressed concern about people on the right “jumping to conclusions that people want to steal an election. We don’t!”
