Meghan McCain breaks silence on Sarah Palin

By Matt DeLong
Meghan McCain said Tuesday that Sarah Palin brought "drama, stress, complications, panic and loads of uncertainty" to her father's failed 2008 presidential campaign, breaking her long media silence on the former Alaska governor on "Good Morning America." McCain is making the rounds to promote her new book, "Dirty Sexy Politics."
Although McCain wrote that during the campaign she wondered whether the loss "was Sarah Palin's fault," McCain told "Good Morning America" in an exclusive interview today that Palin was not the reason the campaign failed.
"I do clearly state at the end that we did not lose because of her, and I'm speaking out now because I do have conflicting feelings about her," McCain told "gam's" George Stephanopoulos. "She brought so much momentum and enthusiasm to the campaign."
When asked if Palin is a candidate she could support in 2012, McCain deflected the question.
"Anyone could be my candidate at this point," McCain said. "I really don't like these hypothetical questions." She added that she "would have to see" before deciding whether to vote for Palin.
McCain also said that she left the campaign when she was asked to go and not come back.
